I was born and raised in South
Africa, Cape Town.
Growing up I always had a love for art, always
sketching my surroundings, yet I never had any formal training. My
grandmother was also an artist, but unfortunately died when I was young,
so I guess
it runs in the family or as they say “its in my blood”.
After finishing school I finally found work I enjoyed,
selling art materials. As time went by I was very
envious of the artists I was selling the materials to,
because working didn’t leave much time for my art.
My boss had given me a gift consisting
of some art materials, oil paints and such. Knowing she had a love for
miniatures, I painted her a miniature oil painting to thank her. She
showed it to her friends at the miniature guild and suggested I paint
some more. I had no knowledge of the miniature world, yet they welcomed
me with open arms.
Later I started getting requests for paintings.
Some sent me photos of their family members and even pets, for
commissioned paintings.
I decided to move to a quiet small town called Robertson, also known as
“The valley of wine and roses” to pursue my painting career full-time.
I not only love painting miniature paintings now, but have learned to
appreciate the whole world of miniatures as a fine art.
I now sell at
auctions and at miniature fairs in South Africa as well as overseas through the internet, as some of my work has been featured in the
“American Miniaturist” magazine as well as the South African “Country
Life” magazine.
I enjoy painting a large variety of subjects, mostly
I use my surroundings for inspiration, as some of the
photos show, Robertson is a beautiful place and so is
Cape Town,
Life is so precious and short and perhaps
painting these captions in time and life, we can enjoy these moments a
little longer.
I hope you enjoy looking though my gallery and sharing my passion ...
